The Rest I Make Up




I didn't know María Irene Fornés before watching the documentary The Rest I Make Up at MoMA. Not even to mention that many people only know her as the ex-lover of Susan Sontag. A scene left me memorable impression was when she went for a doctor due to dementia. The symptom she wrote, "Lost of memory". 

Lost of me, what a powerful impact on an individual. Losing the track of one's own existence. I wonder if that is the saddest tragedy or a blessing of nonstop reseting life. 

I like her seeming ordinary life, but extraordinary being. María Irene Fornés is comfortable with the way she is. An interesting thing she said "I don't trust professional" depicts her unique personality. I also like her poetic and lovely thoughts. 

I happened to see several artists' documentaries around the same time, and felt sad those talents all ended up being alone. Maybe the path to acchieve a greatest level only allows one person to get through. Maybe...
