Even if without seeing Kinji Fukasaku's Battle Royale, I do not appreciate this movie. There are too many fancy decorative components lacking of the core about humanity and surviving. The missing of this vital part makes the movie obscure and soulless. And even not to mention about the controllable technique of the game, such as setting fire, adding ferocious dog and changing the rules. All and all seems to be a mix of The Truman Show and Battle Royale. I would say less is more in this case.
