Last Train Home

Last Train Home (歸途列車)
Directed by Lixin Fan (范立欣)

There is nothing in China, but people. It's my first impression of this documentary.

In Asia, family is the main core of life value. It connects all the family members and also in a way spreads out pressure to everyone. Truly, family can be the sweetest but heaviest burden. Not like western countries, eastern culture value the society, in which every individual is just a part of it. Personal development might not as important as the worth of a group's benefit. Unsurprisingly, many young people of this generation eager to get rid of this invisible and heavy expectation. They don't ask for more, but just to be the dominator of themselves.

Parents from the last generation put all the hope on their children and wish someday to count on them for better life. As an audience, I understand the dilemma of both ends. There is always a bitter feeling existing when people compromise to each end. I couldn't figure out a better way to describe this agonizing mood. Maybe, just for the last train ticket that leads people home.
